Justice Stevens, above, left, born in 1920, named to the Court in 1975, doesn't get a lot of ink. But he often writes separately. I think he figures that he's paid to use his independent judgment, and writing separately is one way he shows that he's earning his keep. Good for him. I admire the man. I like his independence. We need that in a judge. Don't often find it.
